some music nights i've been to lately

there's two kinds of music venues i frequent here in joetsu city: a rock club and dance parties. some of the dance parties are hip hop, and some are spun rock dance tunes. since i love to dance to anything with a beat, the dance parties are immensely enjoyable. although, the rock nights are, most of the time, my favorite nights. those nights are just so rare - and we just found out about the sole (i think?) rock club in joetsu only recently. how horrible! the rock dance parties are incredible too - our friends will spin using records and cds to mix dance remixes of the bravery, the strokes, kaiser chiefs, and many other fantastic favorites.

so here are some shots of the rock club and one of the rock dance parties.

this is at the rock venue: joetsu earth livehouse. my students' band: jet ten bin

and the latest dance rock party. the djs in japan, or at least in our part of japan, are all parts of teams, or groups. my favorite group is named, 'time for livin' - appropriately named i think. they dj together, they plan parties together, and most times, djs from different teams don't mix too much. this is at heaven's cafe, who hosted the 'time for livin' party

these girls didn't hold the signboard all night, this was at 3:30 or so when everyone was cleaning and packing up to leave. i imagine the girls are holding them for their boyfriends while they got their things together

do you remember the lengthy conversation we had about signing the bathroom wall the first time we were there? i vaguely remember hunting for a marker or talking about hunting for a sharpie before it dawned on us that those were only bands' signatures. how f'in retarded would that have been if the out-of-control gaijin had, in their outrageous drunkeness, autographed the wall as if they were rock stars... and there would have been no doin' away with the evidence of our ridiculousness...
